Tips to save money
Exchange your euros at a bureau de change
Currency exchange offices in town offer much better rates than the airport. Change the bare minimum on arrival, then go to the medina.
Eat where the locals eat
A tagine costing 10 MAD more than the local price is normal. A tagine at 5x the price means you're in a tourist trap. Look for small restaurants packed with Moroccans.
Bargain in the souks
30 to 40% off the first quoted price is the norm. Stay friendly — it's a game, not a fight.
Travel off-season
March, October and November offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds and prices 20 to 40% lower.
Take the train, not a plane
ONCF is reliable, comfortable and affordable. The Al Boraq TGV connects Tangier to Casablanca in 2h10 for 300 MAD.
Download useful apps
InDrive and Careem for taxis (fixed fares), offline Google Maps for the medina, ONCF Direct for trains.
